The Contour is an international peer-reviewed open access quarterly journal launched with a broad purpose of engaging all those involved in studies and researches in the English language and literature and in creative writing, cultural studies, translation and translation studies in English. It evidently proposes to cover the wide-ranging areas under the umbrella term English Studies and also seeks to provide room for interdisciplinary studies encompassing and affecting English Studies. It seeks to feature not only theoretical and interpretative well-researched peer-reviewed articles from established and new authors but also literary works and folk literatures written or translated in English.
English Studies from the second half of the 20th century have undergone a huge dimensional change not only in terms of quality but also in terms of quantity and magnitude. The theoretical and practical works in the several disciplines such as linguistics, psychology, sociology, anthropology, education, history, culture studies, political science, mass communication etc. have directly and/or indirectly exercised influence on it and brought from the narrow domain of native English literature and language to the broader and wider domain(s) of (world) English or non-English literary and cultural studies, translation and linguistic studies and English Language Teaching, media and film studies etc.
For the purpose of fulfilling the aims and objectives of this journal as mentioned and elaborated above, we have decided to publish:
a. Original unpublished research articles/papers relating to any area/topic of English studies;
b. Creative Writings in English;
c. English Translations of literary and folk-literary works of other linguistic communities; and
d. Reviews of Books.
Each Volume of The Contour which will be published in one year to be counted from July to June comprises Four Issues. The four Issues: I, II, III and IV of each Volume will be published in July, October, January and April respectively.
